“Where on Earth have you been?” Asked my terrified mother, her face aghast with fear. “Not Earth, Mother…” I replied, recalling the magnificent chain of events that had led to this moment.
“Wake up, boy!” A man commanded. I was plucked out of my relaxing sleep, as I saw a strange man dressed in a white leather suit and pants, with a dark visor over his eyes.
Before curiosity could run its course with an interminable stream of questioning, An iridescent yet hazy green glow materialized from under my bed, engulfing me with a brilliant blast of light.
“Where am I?” Thoughts raced across my mind as I hurtled through what seemed like a tunnel to another universe. I seemed as though I had been condemned to falling till the end of time itself.
After what seemed like an eternity, I was ejected out of my ‘graceful’ free-fall into an unwelcoming environment.
I examined my peculiar surroundings. A fuchsia dome lay overhead, with puffy patches of ravaging reds racing across the sky at immeasurable speeds.
The ground was rough and rugged, with a blinding colour that had the shine of a million suns. The paramount unique beauty eliminated the thought of hunger and thirst – but not for long.
As I rushed about searching for signs of life, my hunger turned to pain as my vision slowly started fading away. That was until I saw what seemed like – People? Had my prayers of salvation finally been answered? I made an advance towards the humanoids.
My immense joy turned to anger as gravity seemed to strengthen with every step I took. Lifting my feet became impossible, which was then followed by complete paralysis.
The ground began to crumble all around me. The sky was shattered by an incomparable darkness, consuming me in the midst of its carnage.
Was this the end? I recalled memories cherished by me – If only I had been given one chance to say goodbye. Alas, it seemed my story was to end with a lachrymose departure – Alone forever.
That was when a spark lit up in my mind. I screamed, determined to survive and return home. Then, a sound boomed in my ears.
“Simulation Complete” A robotic voice announced.
I opened my eyes, revealing a pleasant room, with me in a comfortable bed. A coalition of humanoids appeared in front of me – A sense of intimidation arose as they stared at me with their triple-eyed, abnormally gigantic heads.
“Thank you for participating in our ancestor simulation. Now, you may return home.”
I found myself back in my house. It seemed as though days – no – weeks had passed by. I looked out the window to spot a strange man dressed in white leather waving goodbye.
“Where on Earth have you been?” A voice inquired.
It was my mother. I was overwhelmed with delight, as I told her all about my adventure. Then, I noticed what seemed like a futuristic ray gun kept on my desk. I fired it, creating a green ‘portal’. What more adventures lay for me in the future?
